See below for all the latest on when & where I've been out photographing together with details of upcoming events where I will be displaying my work.

Out & about with my camera.....

9th October 2023

It's been such a busy summer for me keeping the shops which sell my work fully stocked & working on new projects for my other business 'Norfolk by Nature'.  I've also just finished designing my calendar for 2024 'Landscapes & Wildlife of Norfolk' which are now available in the shops or direct from myself.

I also managed to squeeze some time out with a camera recently on the Norfolk Broads to capture some new Kingfisher images!

9th March 2023

Brown Hares are very active at this time of year so it's been great to get out with a camera again over the last couple of months even if I had to spend 5 hours in arctic temperatures & snow showers this week in the Norfolk countryside but it you get the images you're after it's always worth it!

It's been a very busy time recently getting work out to the shops which sell my images & lots to look forward to with another busy summer ahead!

10th March 2021

The last 5 years have been busy for me both out in the field capturing images & also developing my network of shops selling my work...

It's been a difficult year with lock-downs across the UK but i'm really looking forward to summer & getting out with my camera again!

10th August 2016

Well after several weeks of sitting & laying in fields in Norfolk I've finally got the images of hares I was looking for!

It's always great to observe these stunning animals in their natural environment even if they do give you the slip a few times...

14th May 2016

Nice to see the resident swan family in my home village of Lyng have another brood this year!

Now have the worry of 7 healthy cygnets wandering around the village again including the road!

5th May 2016

Spent a few hours on the Farne Islands today for some 'Puffin Therapy'....

It's always great to photograph these inquisitive little birds & today as ever they didn't dissapoint!

2nd May 2016

Spent a few hours on the beach at Bamburgh in Northumberland this afternoon & evening...an absolutely stunning experience to be able to photograph this dramatic sunset in this truly amazing wilderness!

2nd March 2016

The multi-coloured beach huts on the sands of Wells-Next-The-Sea are a spectacular sight, something which I've never managed to photograph before.

I decided to take a stroll there this afternoon as the weather looked good & was lucky to have the beach to myself! I have to say another of Norfolk's idyllic unspoilt spots-a very special place on a cool bright winters afternoon...

20th January 2016

Great to get out today for what proved to be a bracing walk at one of my favourite spots in Norfolk at Brancaster Beach.

There wasn't much wildlife to be seen apart from a few gulls & cormorants offshore however a wild desserted beach is always a great spot for a lovely sunset!

27th September 2015

Spent the last few days watching the osprey in the Wensum Valley close to Lyng in Norfolk during their migration to Africa for the winter.  Fascinating to see these majestic birds soaring overhead and hunting for fish in the nearby lakes and river.

Very fortunate to watch not only one but two of these birds at times...an amazing sight I'll remember for years to come!

31st July 2015

Great to get out on a lovely summers evening close to home and watch/photograph barn owls in a beautiful light.  Glad to say that after following a barn owl hunting over a few days I was able to get some pleasing shots.

26th June 2015

Back out this last week or so spending a few hours sitting/laying in a field trying to photograph the resident brown hares.  Bit of a strain on your back but well worth it when you get some nice shots!

9th May 2015

Spent a few hours at the brand new RSPB visitor centre at Bempton cliffs in Yorkshire.  Great to get the opportunity to get close to the resident gannet colonies there which enabled me to get some nice shots whilst they were nesting.

Lots of auks on the cliffs & the sea too including puffins & razorbills, will definitely visit again!

2nd March 2015

Really pleased to enter this photograph in my first photographic competition yesterday and receive 10/10 marks & great comments from the independant professional judge.

It took me 2 trips to the Isle of Lunga in Scotland to get this shot of a puffin with a bill full of sand eels so was great to get such good feedback in a competition.

25th February 2015

Set out today hoping for my first glimpse of a short-eared owl.  They are known to migrate to parts of the Norfolk coast for the winter from Scandinavia, Iceland & Russia.

My patience was rewarded with some great views of a pair of owls hunting over the marshes close to Haddiscoe in Norfolk late in the afternoon, a truly magical experience!

6th December 2014

A 5am start today to get to Southwold in Suffolk to photograph the sunrise on the beach.

Superb clear but cold weather conditions enabled me to get the shots I wanted so I was pleased.  It may have been an early start but well worth it in the end!

28th November 2014

Had a great day out on Blakeney Point with the National Trust Rangers photographing the grey seal colony and their pups.

Amazing experience to see these animals in their natural environment & incredible to be able to photograph seal pups just minutes after they have been born.

6th September 2014

Been spending a lot of time recently close to Strumpshaw and also the River Wensum at Lyng on the trail of Kingfishers.

Great to see a few although had to have a bit of patience! Hoping to get some shots of them in flight soon!

11th July 2014

Spent almost 4 hours tracking and photographing a family of otters on the Isle of Mull.  A mother & her 2 cubs hunting & playing continually which made a great sight, something which I have spent many hours trying to see.

Watching otters in the wild, on a beautiful sunny day on the west coast of Scotland - it really doesn't get any better!

9th July 2014

Spent the day on the Isle of Staffa & The Isle of Lunga in the Treshnish Isles.

Spent a few hours photographing the resident puffins & razorbills on a stunning sunny day with not a cloud in the sky.  What a perfect way to spend a summers day!

19th June 2014

Discovered a nesting site for little owls this week, heres an early shot of one of the little ones checking me out!

Seen 2 owls close together already so hoping to get more shots of them soon whilst looking forward to studying their behaviour over the coming days.

4th June 2014

Been out in the Wensum Valley regularly recently watching a pair of barn owls hunting in order to feed their young.  Managed to get lots of new shots of the owls in flight together with some perched around local farm buildings.

Feel really privileged to be able to photograph these beautiful creatures in their natural surroundings & to see them up so close.

17th May 2014

Spent the morning today at Strumpshaw Fen.  Saw plenty of birds including marsh harrier, reed warblers and grasshopper warbler.  Heard the bitterns booming but unfortunately they kept out of sight!

It was great to catch a glimpse of this rare swallowtail butterfly which Strumpshaw is famous for at this time of year and lucky to get a shot of one too!

7th May 2014

Delivered latest stock of military cards & postcards to The Muckleburgh Collection today, they are also stocking a range of my wildlife/landscape work in their shop now which is good news.  Got some shots today of the new military weapons in place in the 2nd world war gun pits on the cliffs at Muckleburgh in readiness for a new range of greetings cards to be made for the museum.  Always nice to work in the nice weather on the coast!

16th April 2014

Went for a walk around Strumpshaw Fen for the first time this week.  It was a lovely bright sunny day and there was plenty of wildlife to see which is always great.  Saw a bittern in flight, chinese water deer, marsh harriers and an abundance of small birds including this little nuthatch pictured here.  I'll definitely be going back!

25th March 2014

Had a great day on the beautiful Norfolk Broads today. Lovely weather and lots of wildlife about but not many boats! Watched a pair of kingfishers hunting which was nice, several marsh harriers together with lots of wildfowl.

Capped the day off with a fantastic sunset drifting in the boat with a flask of tea.  It doesn't get much better than this!

17th March 2014

Had a quick walk out in the Lyng area today, still trying to get that shot of boxing hares as this is the best time of year to see this.  Saw a few hares on the fields but couldn't really get that close to them today so I'll be out again soon as time is running out this year !

12th March 2014

Had a nice evening walking around Norwich city centre looking to get some shots of Norwich Cathedral at night and also Cow Tower.  Managed to get some photographs but will have to go back again as eventually ran out of time.

Also Attempted some light trail shots using Norwich Castle as a background.
